Dollfie Dream Armchair

Had been meaning to try to make a Dollfie Dream sized armchair from scratch, recently finally got around to it ^o^

The idea is inspired by Matin sensei of Atelier Matin. But this time instead of a really nicely made sofa kit kindly provided by Matin sensei, I built the base with pieces of foam glued together.

Behind Mirin is the the original sofa which I built last year from Matin sensei’s kit ^^/

Mirin approves :P She likes that she can put her tea down on the arm rest ^^

Vivi (Mamachapp) Is 1:6 scale so it was not possible to have Dollfie Dream girls share the armchair with her ^^;

Below is an older photo taken last year.

The design of the armchair is made with some reference to the shape of our actual Ikea couch at home :3

As I am not very experienced or skilled with cutting the foam, the armchair’s base is not perfectly cut (oops). Luckily the fabric and cotton sheets somewhat hides it ^^; I also think I could have done a better job with tucking the fabric tho!

After the foam pieces is formed, then parts of it are padded with cotton sheets, then a layer of fabric cut to shapes required are tucked into specific corners with a tool. I think I need some legs for the chair lol!

Thank you Matin sensei again!

      Thanks! I think there should be other ways to build a couch like this, so I look forward to see your version! ^o^

    Oh that chair looks awesome! Is it tricky to acquire the materials and to build?

    Would sure to build one like that for my Yoko. Didn’t spot a full guide/plan at Matin’s blog though, maybe I missed it.

      unfortunately I don’t think Matin sensei is selling the kit to overseas, I’m not sure if he would be interested to sell the guide tho. I know he does give workshops time to time in japan ^^

    I must do this. Actually, what I want is something that can flatten out to provide padding for my dolls in their rolling duffel, and then reassemble into armchair or couch form factor. I had a bed that was like this…it folded up into a low couch when not in use, then unfolded into a bed. Dollfie furniture is hella expen$$$ive. To have something inexpensive that would work would be awesome. I suspect this is also fairly lightweight, seeing that it’s predominantly foam rubber.

    Actually all you would need to “jack up” that chair would be a wooden “pedestal” the chair could sit on. You would simply make the pedestal tall enough for the chair to be the right elevation for a Dollfie’s feet to be on the surface the chair is sitting on. Of course, a MDD would have dangly feet but that would be just fine, considering that the MDD is a little girl and household furnishings are not really scaled for little girls.

      this chair is only about 200grams lol foam is very light ^^ I don’t intend to put a pedestal tho, just some longer legs for the bottom. I kinda like it low, so the legs won’t be too tall ^^
